John Joseph Zolomij, 72, of Whitehall, died June 14, 2020. He was the husband of Caroline (Mikitka) for 42 years.
Raised in Bridgeport, he was a son of John and Anna (Makowiak) Zolomij.
He was a 1965 graduate of Bridgeport HS. He earned degrees in history, anthropology and social sciences from Clarion University.
He led the Pratt Environmental Education Center, Connecticut, and United Cerebral Palsy of the Lehigh Valley. He began a career in art history and museum leadership in the 1980s. He was the director of the Raymond E. Holland Automotive Art Collection, Allentown. He led the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum, Hershey, and the America on Wheels Museum and Lehigh County Historical Society, both in Allentown, before he retired in the early 2000s. He authored over 200 articles and books, including the Cugnot Award winning “The Motor Car in Art.”
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jessica N. and her husband Damon Harper of Telford and Stephanie E. of Whitehall; a son, Jonathan P. and his wife Britta Siegfried Zolomij of Fogelsville; and five grandsons, Silas, Spencer, Abel, Cole and Reid.
No donations, flowers, or gifts are requested; honor his life by planning a special day with children or loved ones.
