Salem Christian School, Macungie, had its 40th commencement June 6 in celebration of the Class of 2020.

Students included in the commencement celebration were Lexi Bliven, and Sara Johnson, both from the Northwestern Lehigh School District.

This year’s ceremony was quite unique due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

In the days before the event, the school administration visited the home of each of the 18 seniors to have a mini-ceremony featuring the conferring of the student’s diploma and a time of family prayer.

Footage of these mini-ceremonies was then integrated with the other elements of the commencement program and live streamed via YouTube.

The event also featured the commencement address of Dr. Penny Clawson and charges from Valedictorian Sophie Bauer, Salutatorian Sara Nagy, Head of School Dr. Mark Stanton, and Class Advisor Rebekah Lumsden.
