Eugene “Chico” A. Mayers

Eugene “Chico” A. Mayers, 78, of Orefield, died June 7, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Lois A. (Wilson) Mayers for 43 years.

Born in Mickleys, he was a son of the late Henry J. Sr. and Mamie A. (Miller) Mayers.

He was a 1960 graduate of Dieruff High School.

He worked for many years for Kenways Trucking, Whitehall; Carl Betz, Orefield; and Semmel Excavating, Allentown.

He bowled in many bowling leagues around the Lehigh Valley. A trap shooter, he was a member of A.T.A, Ontelaunee, North End, Pocono Slate and Lappawinzo gun clubs. He set many local trap shooting records and was a 1988 state champion, winning the PSSA single’s 16-yard event in Elysburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Roxie Rex of Palmerton and Kristin and her husband Kirron Graham of Orefield; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Knopf of Walnutport; a son, Scott Klass of Lehighton; five grandchildren, Jared and Ryan Klass, Nathan Reimert, Rachel Shoemaker and Jaylene Goodman; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Sensenig of Sinking Spring; a brother, Terry and his wife Gail Barlip of Danielsville; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Tyler Klass; and a brother, Henry J. Jr.
