Wetmore earns award

Liberty graduate Erin Wetmore continued her high school swimming career at Susquehanna University where the senior River Hawk was awarded the Fulbright U.S. English Teaching Assistant Award in April.

The Fulbright program is a United States Cultural Exchange program that provides scholarships for about 2,000 American students annually to research, study, or teach for one academic year. As part of the program, American students can travel to more than 140 countries worldwide.

Wetmore is a German studies and strategic communications double major and will work in Germany’s schools teaching English language and American studies.

The English Teaching Assistant program places Fulbright recipients in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to local English teachers while serving as cultural ambassadors to the United States.

Wetmore’s senior swimming season at Susquehanna saw her place 10th in the 200 butterfly in 2:27.75, 16th in the 400 IM in 5:16.26, and 17th in the 1650 free in 19:58.90 at this year’s Landmark Championships.
