Curtis J. Frantz
Curtis J. Frantz, 88, of Elizabethtown and Whitehall, died May 25, 2020. He was the husband of Elaine (Kuhns) Frantz for 64 years.
Born in Rising Sun, he was a son of the late Jay and Carrie (Peters) Frantz.
He graduated from Whitehall High School in 1950 and later from Bethlehem Business School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a corporal and spent 18 months stationed in Tokyo, Japan, and was subsequently awarded the Korean Service Medal.
He was an accountant at Aldrich Pump Company (Ingersoll-Rand), Bonney Forge and Colonial Parking. He had his own independent accounting business for 58 years, working out of a home office to prepare taxes, sell insurance and manage investments.
He was a notary public and a 30-year member and local chapter president of the Pennsylvania Society of Tax and Accounting Professionals.
A lifelong member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, he frequently served in leadership roles as consistory member, consistory president, lay reader, Sunday school president and superintendent.
He was active in the Egypt Fire Company, Egypt Memorial Park, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, judge of elections, Groundhog Lodge No. 1 on the Lehigh and the Laurys and Schnecksville granges.
He was a proud member of Porter Lodge No. 284 F&AM and Jordan Lodge 192 Independent Order of Odd Fellows for more than 50 years.
In his youth, he participated in the Neffs 4-H Club and played on its softball team.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Allison Frantz, wife of Maryesther Merlo of Allentown, and Lori, wife of Bruce A. Balliet of Northampton; a grandson, Stephen Balliet, husband of Staci E. of California; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Balliet, wife of Benjamin L. of Colorado.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick and Edward; and a sister, Arlene (Welliver).
Services will be private.
