Joseph Hayes Kearns, 89, of Northampton, died May 11, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Itala (Aviles) Kearns for 52 years.

Born in Leeds, England, he was a son of the late William and Gertrude (Hayes) Kearns.

He owned a publishing business for many years.

He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church, Northampton, and was formerly a church and choir member of St. Christopher’s Church, New York. At both churches, he was a volunteer pastoral minister and lector.

He was a volunteer in the gift shop at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cecilia Fox and her husband Robert; a son, Michael and his wife Elizabeth; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Alexandra, Jacqueline and Samuel.

He was predeceased by a sister, Eileen Riley.

Services are private. There will be a memorial Mass at a later date.
