Bethlehem residents named interns
Three Bethlehem area residents and Bloomsburg University students have completed academic internships during the 2019 fall and winter sessions.
Olivia Cleary, a Bachelor of Arts major in mass communication, completed an academic internship with BU Now. Alexa Diaz, a Bachelor of Science major in exercise science, completed an academic internship with PHOENIX Rehabilitation and Health Services Inc. Colin Jupina, a Bachelor of Arts major in psychology, completed an academic internship with Central Columbia School District.
For-credit, academic internships must meet certain requirements set by academic departments and include a formal agreement between the university and the internship site. Students work with a site supervisor and faculty advisor throughout the internship, gaining hands-on learning and practical experience for their future career.
Hale on CSH team
Hannah Hale, of Bethlehem, was an athlete on one of the four Shenandoah University women’s and men’s cross country and track and field teams that logged the most community service hours. . placed first among 20 participating NCAA DIII schools in the 2019-2020 community service end-of-year Helper Helper rankings. From July 1, 2019 to May 7, 2020, approximately 600 Shenandoah athletes from its 22 sports teams totaled 6,310 hours of community service with an economic impact of $160,463.
