Anna-Mari N. Martz
Anna-Mari N. Martz, 40, died May 2, 2020, and Dr Pepper stock took a devastating loss.
She suffered a grievous brain injury resulting from a brain hemorrhage secondary to Moyamoya disease.
Her entire family is grateful they were able to be there with her as she died, surrounding her with their love.
She was unforgettable, a pure of heart person, giving so generously of her time and her talents - except when having to wash dishes.
She was the biggest kid at heart and because of this she had an incredible natural connection with children.
She took such pride in being able to help care for her niece and nephews and to babysit for the children of her friends.
If she was taking care of your kids, you knew she was coming fully stocked with a bag (sometimes two) of activities, crafts, books, toys, snacks - you name it!
And if it was summer time, everyone knew exactly where to find her - Kaybrook pool.
If she could’ve been there from open to close, she would’ve been - all while enjoying some popcorn and snow cones, especially on Friday Raft Nights!
Whatever she became involved with, she gave it her all.
She proudly worked at the Burger King, Orefield, which is operated by the kind Barto family.
This spring she was going to be recognized for her 15 years of employment and was so saddened the annual banquet was postponed because of COVID-19.
A longtime member of Jordan Lutheran Evangelical Church, Orefield, where she was very active, she taught Sunday School for almost 20 years, helped with Vacation Bible School, volunteered in the church office, helped on the safety team, with Family Promise, and helped fill the sanctuary with beautiful music as part of Jordan’s amazing choir.
Anywhere help was needed, she was ready to step up, except for the dishes.
She was proud to be able to share her Swedish heritage every December by singing a solo of Sankta Lucia, accompanied on piano by her mother.
She was a member of God’s Rainbow and was in Girl Scouts for 12 years, earning her Silver Award.
She was very active in fundraising for the March of Dimes walk in the Lehigh Valley in honor of children she knew and loved from Pennsylvania to Texas.
A force to be reckoned with, she raised more than $15,000 over several years.
She connected countries and her home away from home was Sweden, her mother’s birth country.
She loved to travel and when she met up with her Swedish family and friends, it was like no time had passed.
Growing up, she spent summers with her family living in the High Coast region of Nordingrå.
One of her favorite places to be was out on the rocky beaches and cliffs of Rotsidan, enjoying “fika” of cinnamon rolls and homemade currant juice.
She was the beloved youngest daughter of Ulla H. M. (Grimell) Martz and the late Dr. Mark N. Martz.
She lived with her mother in Orefield along with her oldest sister, Ingrid, and family.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her brother Erik and his wife, Andrea, with sons R.J. and Ryan of Bloomington, Minn.; sister Ingrid L. Martz and husband, Matthew Shelton, with daughter Gracie and son Sawyer of Orefield; and sister Sarah Fox with husband, Allen, and sons Charlie and Oliver, of Dallas, Texas; aunts, uncles, and cousins in America and Sweden.
A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date so all of her family and friends can come together and celebrate her.
Dr Pepper will flow and disposable dishes will be used in her honor.
