James C. Edmonds Sr., 95, formerly of Catasauqua, died May 9, 2020, at Willow Senior Living Community, Macungie. He was the husband of the late Corradina “Clara” (DiStefano) Edmonds.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late August F. and Margaret (Kistler) Edmonds.
He was a 1942 graduate of Catasauqua High School. He was a graduate of U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette University.
He was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He then served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
After World War II, he worked in ship repair in New York City. Following the Korean War, he worked for many years as an engineer for the Fuller Company, Catasauqua, and later for GATX, Bethlehem. After his retirement, he continued to work for local engineering firms.
He is survived by a son, James Jr. and his wife Donna of Allentown; a daughter, Carol and her husband George Quay of Royersford; three grandchildren, Amy, Joshua and Dina; and three great-grandchildren, Brielle, Quinn and Jacob.
He was predeceased by a brother, John “Jack” Edmonds.
Services will be private. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
