Darryl David Fritze, 75, of Whitehall, died April 27, 2020, near his home.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Rev. Carroll O.R. and Margaret E. (Conrad) Fritze.

He was a 1962 graduate of Whitehall High School, where he played trumpet in the band, was a Lehigh Valley Science Fair winner and a was 1961 finalist for the National Science Fair awards in Chicago. He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1966 and earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Iowa, where he was a 1968 teaching fellow. He was a doctoral student in botany and was a teaching fellow at the University of Texas for three years.

He worked at Shell Oil and Wyeth Labs.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

He is survived by two brothers, Wayne of Baltimore, Md., and Gregory P. of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla.

There will be a memorial service at a later date.
