Since the coronavirus is preventing large gatherings, birthday parades seem to be in vogue.
When Catasauqua Borough resident Al Regits turned 88 May 13, nearly the whole town turned out to spring the surprise parade.
Regits is a town icon. He served on borough council for decades, taking on leadership roles including president.
His house overlooks Catasauqua Park and Playground and the municipal pool, which he was instrumental in getting built.
After the parade, he spent the evening with family.
