Church, restaurants work to feed community, residents
Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church has taken a lead on responding to the needs of the borough during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The church held food giveaways at the 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, church April 2, 8 and 16 and May 1 and 7.
The giveaways feature frozen meals made by the church parishioners. Pastor Brian Riedy asked church council to release some funds to help feed those in the community.
“This has been a great help to us,” said residents Margaret Meckley and Brian Wilson.
Most of the people who came by expressed their gratitude for the church’s effort.
“This is what we want to do as part of the community,” Riedy said.
Importantly, many of the people driving by the church stopped to make an offering. It is a great display of the compassion the people of the borough have for those who were trapped by the virus.
