At the Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting April 28, supervisors agreed to open municipal parks May 8.
There was some discussion about opening May 1, but supervisors wanted to give public works personnel time to clean up the parks and get them ready.
Facilities will not be open nor will organized sports be permitted.
Supervisor Gary Behler asked to delay opening the dog park because people tend to congregate at the dog park and might not adhere to social distancing rules. Other supervisors disagreed and asked that residents be aware of the social distancing guidelines.
In other business, supervisors agreed to extend the payment deadline for real estate taxes to Oct. 31. There is a state provision allowing the deadline to be extended to the end of the year, but supervisors decided to keep the October date.
The preliminary planning for the Atlas Road town house project was extended to Aug. 11.
The Fuller Trust curative amendment was extended to June 30. Any changes to the original plan will add traffic. The trust is seeking a denser community than originally proposed.
The board had a detailed discussion on changes to the warehouse on Lot 5. The changes are requested by a potential tenant. See next week’s edition for details.
