Allentown Central Catholic High School is proud to announce and congratulate Paige Christine Egan, Class of 2020 Valedictorian and Angelina Mary Freeman, Class of 2020 Salutatorian.

The ACCHS family celebrated Holy Week and the Easter season.

ACCHS Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry Rev. Mark Searles celebrated mass and stations of the cross throughout Holy Week.

ACCHS students virtually thanked health care workers and other essential workers by making signs and writing letters. Photos with their signs and letters were posted on ACCHS’s social media platforms.

Congratulations to our The Morning Call’s 2019-2020 Boys Basketball Team honorees. First Team: Nick Filchner, scored 521 points, averaged 18 points per game and made 58 three-pointers in leading the Vikings to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference semifinals. The District 11 5A and 24-5 record overall. Filchner shot 80.6 percent from the foul line, 42.2 percent from the field and was voted the EPC MVP. He had 150 rebounds, 61 assists and 40 steals. Filchner finished his career with 1,134 points and a school record of 191 three-pointers. Second Team: Liam Joyce. Honorable mention: Jalen Green. Great job, Vikes. Filchner has committed to attend IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

ACCHS was proud to partner with our Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association District XI member schools to light up our stadium 7-9 p.m. April 17 to honor the Class of 2020 and to support the nurses, doctors and first responders on the front line of the COVID-19 pandemic. J. Birney Crum Stadium was lit along with the high school stadiums. Scoreboards displayed 20-20 in honor of this year’s graduating class, while 4th Down and 19 Yards to Go signified COVID-19 is on its final down.

Senior student council invites the Class of 2020 to spread some positivity. A space is being made available to share some thoughts or memories. Seniors may write or illustrate a favorite memory from their time at Central Catholic. Submissions will be compiled into a presentation by student council members and will be shared with the seniors. Submissions may be sent to amotley@acchs.info by May 1.
