John K. Meckes, 63, of Whitehall, died April 18, 2020, in his home.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Paul G. Meckes and Evelyn Joyce (Mickley) Hemmerly.

He was in the U.S. Navy during peacetime.

He was a maintenance and machine operator at Nestle Purina, South Whitehall Township, for 17 years until he retired this past March. Before that, he was the maintenance supervisor of Victoria Village, Allentown, for eight years.

He is survived by two children, Brandon S. and his fiancee Myalee L. Rios of Slatington and Jessica L. Mack and her husband Jeremy of Walnutport; four siblings, Robert and his wife Lois of Las Vegas, Nev., Mark and his wife Edie of Wescosville, Doretta Miller and her husband Dean of Schnecksville and Susan Koppenhaver and her husband Dave of Allentown; a former wife, Traci A. Meckes of Slatington; and four grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service at a later date. There are no public calling hours.
