Pates spring season now only a ‘what if’

This was supposed to be the year for Freedom’s girls lacrosse.

The Pates were coming off a 14-4 season last year where they reached the league and district semifinals.

They returned a dynamic offensive attack with senior captain and Temple commit Katie Flynn headlining the offense and the program felt this could be the year they could compete with traditional powers Parkland and Easton.

All those aspirations sadly vanished with the canceling of the spring season earlier this month, but this is what Freedom was looking at.

The Pates key players included: Grace Christiansen (Sr. G), Katie Flynn (Sr. A), Lily Judge (Sr. D), Abby Stocker (Sr. G), Abby Burnette (Jr. A), Caitlin Donello (Jr. M), Madden Dudeck (Jr. D).

Flynn entered her senior year with 230 career goals and would have been one of the top players in the league.

“Our entire team has great chemistry and a relentless drive to succeed for each other,” said head coach Charis Innarella. “They understand what it takes to continue climbing the ladder of success. We have great kids who are extremely coachable and I really enjoy being apart of this.

“It’s just said that in a spring that the Pates had been primed for their best team ever, they won’t even get to play.”
