Dreisbach earns place on Soph 79 List

Sophomore Brynn Dreisbach of the Parkland High School girls volleyball team was recently named to Prep Volleyball’s Soph 79 list. The Soph 79 list is a compilation by Prep Volleyball (recognized as the leading National High School Volleyball media resource) of the Top 79 performances by a sophomore last fall. Dreisbach is the only Pennsylvania player to be recognized on the prestigious list.

Prep Volleyball recognizes over 500 sophomore athletes across the country. The recognition begins with Special Mention, Honorable Mention, Elite Honorable Mention, High Honorable Mention, Highest Honorable Mention and the top athletes get honored as a member of the Soph 79.

Dreisbach helped the Trojans reach the PIAA Class 4A semifinals in 2019. She had 515 kills last season, leading all players in the state in the 4A class and second overall. She had 37 aces while serving at 96.5 percent (best in team history) and added 29 blocks, 342 digs and a team-high 509 receptions. Dreisbach was a District 11 All-Star and was named to the All-State team.

“It means a great amount to be named on this list,” said Dreisbach. “It is a great honor and there is no way I could have received it if it weren’t for all of the people in my life. My team has pushed me hard every day at practice to try to make me score because they had amazing digs and passes and our setter, who gives incredible sets to me, so they make my job easy.

“This year we won EPCs and districts and got to the state semifinals. We had this success because of all the hard work we do in practice every day. Also, our conference is great competition for us. This success is also because of our coaches, who push us to have us be the best we can. Without our coaches this success would not be possible.”

“One of her main highlights last season,” said Parkland head coach Mike Krause, “came in the EPC semifinal. Amber Resendez, an All-State player who received the second most sets (700 attempts) for our team over the course of the season, was out with a concussion. In her absence, Brynn had to get a majority of the sets and Liberty knew it. We won that in five sets and Brynn had 30 kills and only six errors. It was an awesome performance. She ended up with 1200 attempts on the year.

“Brynn is a hard worker and very humble. She will be the first to credit her teammates. Her work ethic is outstanding and helps her continue to grow.”

Parkland finished last season with an overall record of 19-6. The Trojans won the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship, their first since the 2015 season. They were also crowned district champions for the sixth year in a row and ninth time in the last 10 years.
