After a month of no meetings, Northampton Borough Council meets 7:30 p.m. April 23. The meeting will be held by telephone conference to maintain social distancing.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Northampton Borough and Advanced Disposal have imposed new regulations for the pickup of garbage. The regulations are effective immediately.
Advanced Disposal will only pick up residential garbage in plastic bags.
According to borough Manager LeRoy Brobst, it was reported some residents are putting garbage out in paper bags. These bags are often ripped open by small animals, causing health and safety concerns.
There are other complaints that some residents dispose of garbage in cans without any bags. Loose garbage will not be collected.
Brobst said the 36 full-time borough employees are working staggered shifts at least until the end of the month.
One employee, who was quarantined at his residence due to a family member testing positive for the virus, is now returning to work. Another employee tested for the virus received a negative diagnosis.
“Everyone is now fine,” Brobst said.
