Donald Ray Korsak

Donald Ray Korsak, 89, of Chester, Va., died Oct. 12, 2019, in McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Va. He was the husband of Motoko (Musha) for 67 years.

Born and raised in Coplay, he was a 1950 Coplay High School graduate, where he was a member of the 1949 Regional PIAA Class C championship basketball team.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years. He was stationed in various U.S. posts; in Okinawa, Japan; Korea; and in Vietnam for two tours of duty. As a master sergeant, he was an expert marksman and a leader of world class skeet teams. He participated in the 1969 World Two-Man Team 12 Gauge Shotgun championship.

After retiring from the Marines, he became the sheriff of the Chesterfield County, Va., for 22 years until he retired.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Bruce of Ephrata; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Paul, Karl and Alexander (Sonny); and two sisters, Wanda Abbot McCormick and Doris Rhoades.

Arrangements were made by Morrissett Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North Chesterfield, Va.
