Bernard “Bernie” Indelicato, artist name Ben Dali, 86, formerly of Bethlehem, died April 15, 2020, at his residence at the Masonic Village of Lafayette Hill. Born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Angela Indelicato. He was the husband of the late Patricia “Pat” Maria for 39 years.
He was a 1955 chemical engineer graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (BPI) and earned a Master of Education degree in 1989 from t Lehigh University.
He was, in 1955, an engineer in the Research Department at Bethlehem Steel, initially in the Ironmaking division and then the Refractories group, until he retired in 1985. He holds a patent in his field. He then was a framer and art instructor at Art and Drafting Connection, Bethlehem, for 10 years. He taught science to seventh and eighth grade students in the Bethlehem Area School District.
He was a member of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, where he was a choir member for 40 years and was a tenor in the adult folk group.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Palette Club for 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 313.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Tyas of New York; a son, Richard T. Indelicato of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two daughters, Ann Marie Lasters of Charleston, South Carolina and Mary Beth Toczek of Philadelphia; and a granddaughter, Genevieve Lasters of Charleston, South Carolina.
He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Saitta; and a brother, Richard A. Indelicato.
