Former ’Cane Ruppert got off to a hot start this spring

No sooner had Lock Haven University’s softball season started than Liberty grad Mikayla Ruppert was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 17.

The sophomore outfielder hit .444 with three doubles, a triple, and four RBIs through the Bald Eagles’ first six games of the season. They were against West Virginia State, Saint Anselm, Southern Connecticut State, Seton Hill, Kutztown, and Goldy-Beacom. Ruppert went eight for 13 in her latter four games.

Lock Haven played its most recent victory on March 11 over American International. It was a come-from-behind 5-3 win in which Ruppert was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Overall, Ruppert has 20 hits and seven RBIs in 16 games started with one home run and six stolen bases.

Lock Haven’s last game was played on March 13 against Bemidji State in which Ruppert had a base hit, walked, and scored the Bald Eagles’ fifth run in the 10-5 loss.
