David Alton Koch
David Alton Koch, 84, of Schnecksville, died April 6, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife, Isabel Joan (Wieand) Koch, were married 62 years.
Born June 13, 1935, in Orefield, he was the son of the late Alton Samuel and Arlene Rose (Hilbert) Koch.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.
He graduated from Moravian College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and earned his Master’s degree from Temple University.
He taught English at Northwestern Lehigh High School for 33 years before retiring in 1990.
He also was the athletic director and girls field hockey coach.
A member of PSEA and PASR professional organizations, he also was a licensed auctioneer and appraiser.
He was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Jill Koch Eckert (Craig) of Pittsburgh; brother Randolph Koch (Linda) of Allentown; grandchildren Joshua A. Eckert (Vanita) and Jessie Eckert Sample (Andrew); great-grandchildren Ezra, Rowan and Braeden; nephews Daniel Koch and Joseph Dufour; and niece Johanna Dufour.
He was predeceased by his sister, Aloha Dufour.
His memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no public calling hours.
