Freedom was looking to rebound from last year’s 7-13 season with a promising team this spring.
Things have obviously changed with the coronavirus, but if the Pates are able to suit up this spring, how would they look?
With a fair amount of experience back in the fold this season, the Pates were shaping up to be a formidable opponent this spring.
“I think that we struggled in the first half of last year due to lack of experience at the varsity level,” said head coach Nick D’Amico, “but by the end of the year we were competing with the top teams in the league.”
Back for Freedom this year are: Alec Bove-Sr/SS, Pat Gill- Sr/OF, Conor Howland- Sr/OF-P, Cade Horwath- Sr/P-3B, Presten Mestric- Sr/P, Nick Stannard Sr/1B, Jimmy Moniz-Sr/C-P, Garret Glick- Jr/2B, Nate Mikulski- Jr/OF-P, Andre Ledee- Jr/C-P and Andres Suarez- So/C.
Newcomers in the fold are Nick Sciarra- Jr/OF, Zion Frailey Jr/OF-P, Joey Fancera Jr/Utility Infielder and Griffin Coyne- So/Utility Infielder.
“We have a lot of senior leadership and talent mixed with some good young players,” said D’Amico. “We want to get back to the playoffs and compete for a district title.”
