Gerald J. Fabian

Gerald J. Fabian died March 30, 2020, at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Kyra) Fabian for more than 60 years.

Born in Ormrod, he was a son of the late Joseph Sr. and Veronica (Pekar) Fabian.

He graduated from East Stroudsburg and Seton Hall universities and earned a master’s degree in speech and hearing pathology.

He was in the U.S. Army.

He worked at Sears Roebuck and in the Mack Trucks engineering department. He also worked in the Lopatcong and Pohatcong school districts in New Jersey and for Carbon-Lehigh Unit 21 until he took retirement. He was a Whitehall Township commissioner for 20 years and was a board secretary. He worked as a construction laborer for Local 1174 in the summer and was on the health and welfare board for many years.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Egypt, where he was an usher and a pierogie maker.

He was a member of Catholic War Veterans Post 454, Northampton, and the Jednota Branch 796, Egypt. He was a member and officer of the Sokol Assembly 255.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael G. with Deborah of Whitehall and Matthew M. with Rachel of Fogelsville; two daughters, Mary of New Tripoli and Monica at home; three grandchildren, Laura M. Fabian-Dunn with Trent, Jessica A. Fabian and Olivia J. Fabian; three great-grandchildren, Millie Jane and Mack Dunn and Theodore Gerald Stephens; a niece, Michaeleen Fabian Dom; and a nephew, Deacon Gregory Fabian of Indiana.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and John Fabian; two sisters, Ann and Veronica; and two nephews, Alois and Joseph Fabian.

Services will be private.

Contributions may be made to the church, 4456 Main St., Whitehall, 18052, or to the Sisters of St. Francis Center for Renewal, 395 Bridle Path Road, Bethlehem, 18017.

Arrangements were made by Reichel Funeral Home Inc., Northampton.
