Eugene A. Corsi, Troop M state trooper

Eugene A. Corsi, 93, of Bethlehem, died April 1, 2020. He was the husband of Rose M. (Rich) Corsi for 67 years.

Born in Sayre, he was a son of the late Cataldo and Philomena (Cocci) Corsi.

He was a graduate of Sayre HS and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.

He was in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

He worked briefly for the Lehigh Valley Railroad. He then worked for 32-plus years for the State Police, mostly with Troop M, Bethlehem, from which he retired as a corporal with supervisor duty in the Patrol Unit. He worked in Doylestown, Fairless Hills and Easton, also. He was a breathalyzer instructor and maintenance officer and teacher at the Southeast Training Center. He was a garage inspector in Lehigh County. He was a deputy sheriff for three years for Northampton County, and a court officer for 12 years for Judge F.P. Kimberly McFadden.

He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Pompeii Church and more recently of St. Anne Catholic Church, both in Bethlehem.

He was a scoutmaster for Troop 20 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. He was a longtime member and officer of both the Holy Name Society and of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #40. He was a founding member and a multi-term treasurer of the Bethlehem Chapter of UNICO, which supports college scholarships for aspiring young men and women of Italian heritage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Bob and his wife Donna, Roseann and her husband Frank Scattene, Chuck, and Jean and her her husband Michael Caffrey; five grandchildren, Matt Corsi and his wife Susan, Robert Corsi and his wife Julia, Marc Corsi and his wife Nichole, Michael Caffrey and David Caffrey; four great-grandchildren, Joey, Brayden, Jordan and Dominic; a sister, Nancy Ginnetti and her husband Hank of Breesport, New York; nieces; and nephews.

Services are private. A Mass to celebrate life will be held at a later date.
