Municipalities provide updates
Allen Township
Allen Township has closed all its parks and shut down all government activity.
The yard waste drop-off point in the township is closed until the shelter-in-place order is lifted. First Regional Compost Authority is not accepting any yard waste at its Weaversville Road location.
The latest municipal waste requirement is to bag all waste materials put out for pickup to reduce virus contamination from garbage.
Bath Borough
All events and meetings on borough property are canceled.
Northampton County is under a state of emergency. Bath Mayor Fiorella Reginelli-Mirabito said residents appear to be complying with the stay-at-home order from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
She noted most local restaurants are closed, but some are offering take-out service.
The borough Facebook page is being updated more often to keep residents informed.
East Allen Township
Locally, one of the bigger issues on the table is the Rock Lehigh Valley case against East Allen Township.
A hearing was scheduled for March 30, but that was postponed. The new date has not been announced.
Moore Township
Because of the rural nature of Moore Township, staying home and social distancing may be easier to achieve.
The township office is available to receive phone calls and email, but the public cannot enter the municipal building.
Moore Township has canceled all meetings at its municipal building until further notice. Township parks are for use, but at the residents’ own risk as the playground equipment is not being sanitized.
Churches, nonessential businesses and day cares are closed. All residents are urged to stay home and self-quarantine.
Northampton Borough
The borough hall remains on lock down until further notice.
Borough Manager LeRoy Brobst reported the public works department will stagger the work time of its employees. The same policy is in effect with office employees and those working at the wastewater treatment plant.
The April 2 borough council meeting has been canceled.
It was suggested to hold council meetings via video conferencing, but the borough solicitor has recommended not holding meetings that way, Brobst said.
The borough also canceled the children’s Easter egg hunt, which was set for April 4.
The borough office reported three residents have been tested for the coronavirus and the results were negative.
