Charles J. Deutsch, 94, of Coplay, died Feb. 27, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of the late Teresa Knopf for 64 years.
Born in Coplay, he was a son of Frank and Mary (Draxler) Deutsch.
He attended Coplay High School.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1943. He was a fireman first class on landing craft ship LSM48 in the Pacific for three years during World War II.
He was the founder of CJ Deutsch Spouting. He was a yard foreman for 43 years at General Supply Company, Coplay.
He was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Coplay.
He was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and was a three-term president of the Knights of St. George, Northampton.
He was on the Coplay-Whitehall Sewer Authority board. He was an assistant in the Coplay tax office for decades.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffry P. and his wife Karen and Dr. Jerome C., D.O., all of Coplay; two grandsons, Jared P. and Aaron B., both of Coplay; a sister, Elda Guthrie of Texas; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by 16 siblings.
