R. Eugene Litwhiler

R. Eugene Litwhiler, 95, formerly of Orefield, died March 1, 2020, in Fellowship Community, Whitehall, where he resided.

He was the husband of the late Leah A. (Plastow) Litwhiler.

Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Newlin, Columbia County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Sarah Catherine (Reigle) Litwhiler.

The owner and operator of Litwhiler Plumbing and Heating in Bally and Orefield for 40 years, he retired in 1997.

He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, South Whitehall, and a former member of the Bally Lions Club.

His survivors include a daughter Carol A. Lenhart and her husband, Dr. Jack A. Lenhart, of Orefield; siblings Irene E. Corby of Virginia, Charles W. Litwhiler of Benton; Lillian N. Miller of Whitehall; grandchildren Chris, Todd, Ryan, Derrick and Tayler; and great-grandchildren, James, Nicholas and Miles.

He was predeceased by a son, Donald E. Litwhiler, and five siblings.

A celebration of his life will take place 11 a.m. March 6 in Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall, with the Rev. Eric S. Yeakel officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10:30-11 a.m. Friday in the church parlor.
