EVS Metal: NMIH: S.T.E.M. grant
Representatives of EVS Metal’s East Stroudsburg facility reaffirmed their commitment to offering students of Stroudsburg MS invaluable exposure to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) through the National Museum of Industrial History’s (NMIH) Future Innovators Fund, with a $3,000 grant.
For the second year in a row, EVS Metal has allowed NMIH to waive the costs for nearly 400 public school students to visit the museum and connect lessons from America’s industrial past to today’s ever-changing world of technology and innovation.
The museum’s Future Innovators Fund is a program to which donors contribute to help students engage in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics with social history learning opportunities. Donations help offset the cost of school field trips and outreach programs for eligible schools.
“EVS Metal’s strong support for their community and education through industrial history is important in teaching new generations where we came from,” said NMIH president and CEO Kara Mohsinger. “By telling the story of our country’s history of innovation and connecting it to today’s world, we hope to inspire future engineers, entrepreneurs and inventors.”
“Having a Smithsonian Affiliate available in our backyard is an incredible asset with which to educate the young people of our community and give them the resources they need to become future leaders in technical fields,” said Joe Amico, vice president of EVS Metal. “By invoking the stories of the men and women who founded and built the U.S. and combining those stories with the skills students need to succeed, it’s a win-win scenario.”
