Liberty, Freedom and Bethlehem Catholic will all kick off their District 11 basketball tournaments this week, as the postseason is officially upon us.
In 6A, Liberty enters as the second seed at the bottom of bracket after falling to Allen in last week’s East Penn Conference championship.
The Hurricanes open play on Saturday at 6 p.m. against seventh-seeded Northampton at Easton. That game will then be followed by up by top-seeded Allen taking on the winner of the eight-nine matchup between Whitehall and Pocono Mountain West.
In other matchups on Saturday, third-seeded Easton takes on sixth-seeded Parkland at 2:30pm at Allen. Freedom will precede that affair at 1 p.m. against East Stroudsburg South in a four-five matchup.
In 4A, Bethlehem Catholic enters as the second-seed, as all eyes are gearing for an all-Catholic district final. Central Catholic comes in as the top seed and look to end Becahi’s three-year reign as consecutive district titles.
Action gets underway Friday night in 4A, as Becahi opens against seventh-seeded Northwestern at 6 p.m. at Whitehall. That game will be a doubleheader featuring Central Catholic against eighth-seeded Palisades at 7:30 p.m.
Fourth-seeded Wilson takes on fifth-seeded Salisbury at 7:30pm at Northern Lehigh, while the other matchup in the bracket features a 7:30pm trip to Martz Hall, as Tamaqua takes on Pine Grove in a three-six matchup.
Semifinals in 6A will take place on February 26 with the third-place game and championship set for February 29.
In 4A, semifinals are February 25 with the third-place game and championship slated for February 28.
Four teams will advance to the state tournament in both classes.
