Janet L. Medence, 86, formerly of Upper Macungie Township, died Feb. 10, 2020, in Devon House, Allentown.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Roland P., Sr. and Harriet E. (Schmeyer) Harrier.
A 1951 graduate of Allentown High School, she was a file and staff clerk from 1951-61 for PP&L.
Then, she was a nurse’s aide at Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown, and worked for her sister, Carol, at Granny’s Bake Shop until it closed in 1994. She also was a coffee hostess at Wawa.
A member of Christ Lutheran Church, Allentown, she was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years and was very active in the Allentown Kuhnsville Lioness Club for 20 years.
An animal activist, she loved nature and gardening and also enjoyed horseback riding, swimming and diving.
She cherished the friendships of family and friends.
Her survivors include sons Richard L. and David S. of Allentown; brother, Harry Harrier of Richardson, Texas, sister, Carol Leposa (Richard) of Allentown, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Roland P. Harrier Jr. and a sister, Marty E. Kerschner.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Feb. 15 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1245 Hamilton St., Allentown, with the Rev. Dr. William Maxon officiating.
Interment at Jordan Lutheran Memorial Garden, Orefield.
