Allen Twp. adjusts pension allocation

Allen Township Manager Ilene Eckhart discussed the township’s pension plan at the board of supervisors regular meeting Jan. 28.

The pension is in an acceptable financial position. Calculations to determine the viability of the fund are based on an 8-percent investment return.

According to Eckhart, the conservative investment portfolio is not producing the desired return to sustain the portfolio. She was advised to allow the return basis to drop to 7.75 percent. The lower threshold allows the fund to venture into investments that may be slightly riskier but can yield better overall returns.

The board approved the request.

The Bath Allen Youth Club was on the agenda requesting permission for small games of chance as a fundraiser at Howertown Park.

Eric Miller, president of the club, is planning improvements at the snack bar. Service lines will be run in to provide grills to serve snack foods prepared by volunteers.

The township officially accepted roads in the Stone Ridge development. The community has been undergoing some challenges since its opening. There were problems meeting MS4 standards, along with runoff from impervious surfaces. Dedicating roads to the township, which has always been part of the plan, will improve public maintenance in the community.

Supervisors allowed a delay on project plans for town houses along Atlas Drive.
