Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 604 Fourth St., Catasauqua, held a prime rib dinner Dec. 15, 2019, to support the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors program. The national program has high administrative costs, reducing the funds that are used to help veterans. Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church opted to assist the unaffiliated state organization that works to provide enhanced services to veterans in Pennsylvania.
A meat-provisioning company out of Souderton donated 150 pounds of prime rib for the event. One of the executives is married to a Catasauqua Area School District bus driver and heard about the effort.
Fred Knauss is the go-to chef for Holy Trinity’s dinners. He is ably assisted by Pastor Brian Riedy, an accomplished chef.
Seating for the event started 4:30 p.m. and continued to 7 p.m.
Holy Trinity has a policy of donating all of its funds to its selected charities.
“We don’t use any of the funds for church administrative costs. The congregation made that decision long ago,” Riedy said.
