Hanover loses staff member
At its reorganization meeting Jan. 13, Hanover Township Council swore in its leadership team.
Bruce Paulus was elected chairman, and Michael Woolley was elected vice chairman. Support positions for solicitor, insurance and auditing will remain in place.
In an unexpected announcement, Director of Public Works Jeffry Mouer announced he is leaving his post to serve as zoning officer for North Whitehall Township.
“I am happy to have served the borough over my term, but I look forward to serving in a different capacity and expanding my career,” Mouer said.
No major changes are anticipated in the operation of the township, it was reported.
Late last year, township Manager Christopher Garges left Hanover to assume duties as township manager with North Whitehall.
After the reorganization meeting, Attorney Tom Schlegel approached council about a local business’ concern.
In its effort to restrict long-distance truckers from blocking roads and hindering traffic in and around Lloyd Street, council authorized certain truck restrictions, which were recommended by local residents.
Mobile Mini has a storage facility off Lloyd Street and the in-place restrictions impact the company’s business.
Paulus indicated there was no intent by council to restrict local business. Mini Mobile takes small shipping containers to local residents for packing/shipping to alternate locations.
Councilman Rick Tocci, who pushed for the truck restrictions, agreed with Paulus that there was no intent to restrict local business operations.
Tocci, who lives in the immediate neighborhood, will work with his neighbors and Mini Mobile to hammer out an acceptable resolution.
