District Attorney Jim Martin has announced that charges have been filed against an Allentown woman as a result of a fatal crash which occurred earlier this month.
Amanda Ritter, 29, of Allentown, has been charged with one count each of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle and involuntary manslaughter. She is also charged with many counts of assault and injury while intoxicated, reckless endangerment and many driving violations.
On Jan. 14, around 8:16 p.m., RItter allegedly crashed her vehicle into a Chevrolet Malibu on Mauch Chunk Road in Allentown. The front seat passenger in the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. There were six other occupants in the vehicles, all of whom were injured, four of whom having sustained life-threatening injuries.
The deceased victim was Yasmine Woodruff, 22, Allentown. Woodruff had been seated in the front passenger seat of the Chevrolet.
As a result of the investigation of the crash, it is alleged that the defendant was grossly negligent driving at a high rate of speed and was intoxicated when she struck the Chevrolet Malibu, which caused the death of Yasmine Woodruff and the injuries to the other occupants of the vehicles. In addition, she was not properly licensed at the time of the incident.
Ritter is currently incarcerated in Lehigh County Jail on an earlier pending charge.
