Flood announces candidacy

Ann Flood has announced her candidacy for the 2020 election for the 138th Legislative District.

With the announcement of state Rep. Marcia Hahn’s retirement, Flood intends to continue her legacy. She is committed to addressing property taxes for all constituents.

Flood is an advocate for economic development and supports small-business growth. She hopes to help create more opportunities for those interested in growing their businesses.

Born and raised in Wind Gap, Flood is a graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Moravian College.

For 22 years, Flood has lived in the Bath area and has been married to her husband, Dan. Together, they have two children - Jake, attending Lehigh University, and Ella, attending Northampton Area Middle School. The Flood family also has one angel child, Lauren, who died in 2007.

As the founder and CEO of Lauren’s Hope Foundation, Flood leads a mission to enhance the quality of life for brain-injured children and their families. The foundation has helped children receive lifesaving care in the neonatal intensive care unit at Lehigh Valley Health Network Children’s Hospital.

Flood helped initiate a program that brings body cooling to babies who are born with hypoxia. She felt it was important to bring “big city” medicine to the region, so families can remain closer to their child with better support systems in place.

Flood also serves her community as the president to the board of directors for Greater Bath Area Chamber of Commerce and is on the board of governors for Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

She has earned recognition as a top philanthropist by LVHN. Flood was also the recipient of the 2017 Haupert Humanitarian Award from Moravian College.

Flood is looking forward to representing all the constituents within the 138th district, which includes the townships of East Allen, Hanover, Moore (portion), Bethlehem (portion), Bushkill, Lower Nazareth and Plainfield, as well as the boroughs of Bath, Chapman, Pen Argyl and Wind Gap.
