Donald R. Genshart

Donald R. Genshart, 88, of Allentown, died Jan. 8, 2020, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Anne A. (Apfelbaum). They would have been married 62 years this month. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frederick W. K. Genshart, DDS and Julia P. (Peters) Genshart.

He was a graduate of Allentown High School, Class of 1950.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a military policeman.

He was employed by Mack Trucks for over 32 years in plants 4 and 5-C, retiring in 1987.

He was previously a volunteer at Greenawalds Fire Company.

His passions included anything with cars and singing barbershop. He was a member of the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association and the Lehigh Valley Timing Association. He was also a member of the Lehigh Valley Harmonizers.

He loved and was proud of his family. He will be remembered by all his family and friends as a good guy!

He is survived by his wife; children, Jane G. and her husband, Douglas A. Keen, James C. and his wife, Denita R., Jeffrey and his wife, Shelly L. and Elizabeth A. and her husband, Richard D. Duld, all of Allentown; grandchildren, Caitlin (Keen) Lavoritano and her husband, Scott, Megan Keen, James and Donald, Gregory Duld and his wife, Jamie and Jillian Duld; great-grandchildren, Gage and Brynn Duld, Grace and Sadie Lavoritano; sister, Sally G. Crooker, of Chicago, Ill.; nephews, Robert and James Crooker.

Contributions may be made to one’s choice or perform random acts of kindness in his memory.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15 in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., 274 N. Krocks Road, Allentown. A calling hour will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15 in the funeral home. Military honors will conclude the service in the garden of the funeral home.
