LHS girls down SHS

Stroudsburg’s girls’ swim team hung close to Liberty, but the Hurricanes pulled out a 92-78 victory over the Mountaineers last Thursday at Liberty.

“[Coach] Reik [Foust] told us they had some depth so I was kind of worried about that, but I knew our girls could push through, and a lot of girls are sick, so I was worried about that too, but I knew in the end we’d pull through with the relays,” said Hurricane captain Abby Mack.

Brooke Sergent, Samantha Taylor, Talia Lehr, and Mack opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:58.48.

Maddy Drager won the 200 free in 2:09.37, Taylor won the 200 IM in 2:18.04 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.49, Sergent won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.46, and Mack won the 100 free in 55.90 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.93.

“I feel really good about where I’m at, definitely want to lower my times, but I feel like our training is really helping and I see that in every meet that we race,” Mack said.

Sarah Park, Sergent, Taylor, and Mack closed out the meet with a first place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:51.51.

“It’s a smaller group this year but I like the dynamic, we all work hard together, and it’s a really fun group to be part of and be the captain of,” Mack said.
