LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Sports’ big role

Starting at kindergarten and finishing at 12th grade, Lehigh Valley Academy prepares students for their college and business careers. LVA is known for its academics and having a high standard for its students to succeed to their full potential. LVA incorporates as much as it can when it comes to active activities. The Jaguar community loves to get involved in as much as they can, whether they are small clubs or big ones, sports and after-school programs. One of the biggest things that has been a success is our sports teams.

LVA has two very well put-together teams: soccer and basketball. Our soccer team is part of the Northern Valley Youth Soccer League (NVYSL). The soccer teams are all coed and are of age groups of U14, U16 and U19. Our soccer games are all over the Lehigh Valley. The fall season is over, but in March, spring season will start right back up.

Basketball is a lot more popular than soccer. Our basketball team is part of a community league. We have both girls and boys teams. The ages include U13, U15 and U16. The season just started, and it started off well. On Dec. 21, the boys won their first game at Nazareth, 54-51. The U15 boys has also won their first game against Palmer. With coming-up dates, four of the basketball teams play at home on the same days.

On Jan, 4, the Jaguar community is preparing to have a whiteout. On Jan. 11, we are planning to have a redout and on Feb. 8, we are looking forward to the blackout. During these times, canned food is asked to be brought to donate for a great cause.

There are also some club sports that LVA offers as well. We have tennis, flag football, fitness and volleyball. In the future, Lehigh Valley Academy may join leagues for track and field, cross country and volleyball. We are also looking forward to adding bowling and golf.

Lehigh Valley Academy may be about academics and helping students succeed to their full potential, but having sports is a way to maintain oneself. Sports helps with concentration, stress reduction and much more. Sports offerings help keep students on track and keep them moving.

LVA is also hosting a play, “Footloose,” which takes place in a very religious place which does not allow dancing. When a tragedy strikes, a young teenage boy comes around and convinces the spiritual leader to let the teenagers have a dance to take their minds off the tragedy. Auditions have already started and the Jaguar community is excited to see what has been worked on.
