Northwestern Elementary has two fundraisers
Northwestern Lehigh Elementary students, parents and staff gathered inside and out for two events in November.
They were a two-step fundraiser, planned to help generate funds for Northwestern Lehigh Elementary field trips, special assemblies and educational events.
On Nov. 12, 2019, the Wild West-themed pep rally kicked off one fundraiser by getting students pumped up and explaining student involvement.
At the Wild West pep rally, the winner of the fifth grade T-shirt contest was announced.
Emily Diehl designed the T-shirt that all students would be wearing as they do the Color Fun Run.
Proud mom Kelly Diehl is also a IA and substitute at the school.
New Tripoli Bank covered the cost of the T-shirts.
Northwestern’s main event a Color Fun Run occurred on Nov. 14.
The temperature was colder than anticipated, so races were moved to later in the day, when it would be warmer.
Many families showed up and cheered for their favorite tigers.
The second-, third-, fourth- and fifth-grades ran and were doused with dyed powder.
Students raised funds through sponsors for the run flat fee $30 just run or per lap 30 laps Rec fields 1/16 of a mile.
As part of the fundraiser promise, when the $10,000 level was reached, Northwestern Principal, Maria Pulli promised she would go on the roof.
After that, students exceeded their goal and raised $19,001.
The original goal was targeted at $15,000.
“We were all impressed and surprised,” Partners in Education president Erica Seither said.
PIE was interactive in the planning and support of the fundraiser.
At the rewards celebration, Officer Paul Dunstan and Pulli played egg roulette during the celebration of meeting and exceeding the fundraising goal.
Egg roulette is played by cracking a dozen eggs between two opponents - some are raw, some hard boiled.
The opponent with the most raw egg on his or her head wins.
Pulli was the winner.
Northwestern Lehigh School District Superintendent Jennifer Holman was on hand to smoosh a pie into the face of the loser of the egg roulette, Office Paul Dunstan.
