LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

‘End of an era’ for Northwestern Lehigh Drama Club senior

As a Northwestern Lehigh senior and drama club president, Gwen McArdle puts it, “It’s the end of an era.”

The final winter play for her and other seniors will be a bittersweet memory.

Gwen McArdle played Peppermint Patty in the high school production of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

“I’ll miss all my friends here,” she said. “But I won’t miss the stress of rehearsals and trying to get everything together.”

McArdle and her fellow seniors are already looking forward to the spring musical, “All Shook Up,” an Elvis music-themed production, along the lines of “Footloose.”

Musical auditions were Dec. 17. The play itself arrives earlier, as production dates are Feb. 27, 28, 29, and March 1, 2020.

McArdle was happy to see a lot of new faces in the play. Many freshman appeared in their debuts.

She noted that seniors are involved in other activities, so it’s often hard to squeeze in rehearsal in already busy schedule.

“I know last year was definitely busy but this year we’re really looking forward to the spring musical.”

Lucy van Pelt played by Savannah Madeira, a junior, has a wig adjustment backstage.
