Liberty’s girls’ first home swim meet of the new season ended in a 118-68 victory for Emmaus last Thursday.
“This was a good meet to get fast times because when you have someone to race, you swim faster,” said Samantha Taylor, one of the Hurricanes’ four senior captains for the girls team.
Taylor won the 200 IM with a time of 2:17.87.
“I try not to watch and focus more on what I’m personally doing, but it was a good race overall,” she said.
Abby Mack also won for the Hurricanes, taking first place in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.53 and in the 100 free with a time of 55.73.
Liberty freshman Brooke Sergent won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.52 and the 500 free with a time of 5:32.11.
The Hurricanes took second place in all three relay events.
In the 200 medley relay, Taylor, Sergent, Talia Lehr, and Sarah Park swam a time of 1:59.07.
“We’ve been trying out some different combinations, so I think today was good,” said Taylor. “I think we have a lot of versatile people, so we’re trying to figure out what the fastest combination of four people will be.”
In the 200 free relay, Mack, Lehr, Julia Pinter, and Maddy Drager swam a time of 1:50.02, and in the 400 free relay, Sergent, Taylor, Park, and Mack swam a time of 3:47.73.
