Allen Township supervisors appointed Gerald Montanari Sr. to fill a vacant position on the board during the Nov. 26 meeting. He will fill the vacancy until Jan. 1, 2022.
Montanari is a lifelong resident of the township. He and his son have been active in the township and have served the community well in numerous volunteer activities.
Supervisors voted to adopt the township budget for 2020. The details will soon be released to the public.
There was some discussion on naming the primary street in the Jaindl development. The existing road will remain as Seemsville Road, saving residents administrative costs to change their personal information.
The plan calls for a new road to serve as an access road to the warehouse complex. The new road will intersect with Route 329. Supervisor Larry Oberly suggested New Seemsville Road as an option.
Supervisor Dale Hassler noted the name is immaterial at this point as there are no residents or businesses located there. Hassler also noted the new road will be in East Allen Township. He suggested supervisors defer naming the road to East Allen Township. Allen Township has no priorities or preferences for the name of the road.
Allen supervisors also took time during the meeting to honor the accomplishments of the township’s latest Eagle Scout.
Michael Jamicky received a commendation from Oberly and Fire Chief Dale Hassler. For his Eagle Scout project, Jamicky planned and executed landscaping improvements around the fire station.
Jamicky is a volunteer with the township’s fire department, where he is completing his training. He has served with distinction during his time with the department.
