Weisenberg Elementary students and staff honored local veterans with a program of speeches and songs on Nov. 11, Veterans Day.
Relatives of the students were invited to the assembly.
Each veteran was asked to stand, provide his or her name, branch of military and years of service.
At least two members were on active duty, still serving in the military.
The students saluted the military guests by giving them a standing ovation.
During the musical portion of the program, students, under the direction of music teacher Carol Fella, sang “Star Spangled Banner,” “For the Good of the Many,” “Red, White and Blue,” “My Country ’Tis of Thee” and “America the Beautiful.”
Also taking part in the ceremony were Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, who presented and retiring the colors (flags).
Weisenberg Principal Jill Berlet also gave words of welcome and thanks to all the military guests for their service.
