Weisenberg board deals with road rules
Weisenberg supervisors adopted an ordinance limiting the size of trucks allowed on Helffrich Road during the board’s Dec. 9 meeting.
No trucks over 40 feet in length or weighing more than 30 tons will be allowed on this road except for local deliveries.
A traffic study was done on George Road and the result was that a 30 mph speed limit is justified.
The speed limit will include the entire length of the road from the Lowhill Township line to Carpet Road.
Only one bid was received to audit the township’s books.
France, Anderson and Basile Co. will perform the audit for a fee not to exceed $7,875.
The Sanctuary at Haafsville was given the nod to handle stray animals in the township.
They will receive $1,500 for the new year.
Speed signs will be installed on Sechler Court. The speed limit of 25 mph will be ordained at the January 2020 supervisors’ meeting.
Robert Elbich, chairman of the zoning hearing board, is resigning. Charles Bashore was reappointed to the UCC appeals board.
The Weisenberg Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to 15 calls in November with dwelling fires the most numerous at four.
The new hoagie sale is in progress. Orders must be in by Dec. 17 with delivery between 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Jan. 2, 2020.
Vehicle problems are plaguing the fire company.
The 4199 Command Unit is expected to be repaired by Ford Motor Company through a reprogramming of the engine.
Hopefully, the company can solve the excessive oil usage problem. The 5121 tanker has a water leak in the tank.
The fire crew will try to repair it without outside help.
A water line leak was repaired last month, along with a pressure reducing valve.
This year is the end of Fire Chief Brian Carl’s term.
He has been chief for five years.
He will not fade away, however, as he will remain as the new deputy chief.
