I am concerned about the lack of transparency shown by the current South Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners at their most recent meeting.
The people spoke two weeks ago when they voted Diane Kelly, Michael Wolk and Matthew Mobilio as our next township commissioners.
I understand the need for Mark Pinsley to resign to prepare for his new role as Lehigh County controller.
But to approve a replacement the same day late into the night is an attack on our democracy and is highly unethical.
There should have been a notice put out to the township to advertise for people to apply for the position within a 30-day period.
No one knew the resignation would be on the agenda.
While Pinsley has the right to an opinion on who should replace him, that decision does not belong to him.
It should have been selected by our elected commissioners with public input.
If anyone deserved to fill the seat, it was Tom Utsch who placed fourth in the 2019 Municipal General Election.
