FALCON INSIDER
This past week was Red Ribbon Week.
STARS (Students Taking Active Roles) held many activities throughout the week to promote the idea that students should stay away from drugs.
Each day students participated in a different clothing theme that related to a topic concerning drugs (i.e., black out drugs, wear all black or drugs are old school, choose a decade). Students also played Kahoot (an online classroom game that allows students to compete while learning new information), took photos at the photo booth and decorated classroom doors for the chance to win pizza. Congratulations to Michael Judge and Eliza Wiener for winning the door decorating contest with their theme, do math not meth!
SGA’s and the school counseling office’s food drive was a success. Students and faculty were encouraged to bring in canned items to be donated to the Allentown Ecumential Food Bank.
Unlike last year, this year donors could place their cans in the faculty member’s box that they wanted to wear the Falcon suit Nov. 27. The results are Mr. Snyder in fifth place (31 cans), Mr. Hahn in fourth place (37 cans), Mr. Barna in third place (38 cans), Mr. Koba in second place (414 cans) and Mr. Muschlitz in first place (608 cans). Overall, Salisbury High School collected 1,128 cans to donate and Mr. Muschlitz will wear the Falcon suit Nov. 27. Great job, Falcons.
The SHS fall play, “Peter and the Starcatcher,” is about the backstory of the characters in Peter Pan. Opening night is 7 p.m. Nov. 15, continues 7 p.m. Nov. 16 and concludes with a final showing 3 p.m. Nov. 17. Come see the show and support SHS students as they show off their hard work.
Poetry Out Loud is an annual competition that encourages students to memorize and perform poems on a school, regional, state and national level. Students at SHS interested in participating in the Poetry Out Loud competition should talk to Mrs. Schneider or one of their English teachers. They should also visit the Poetry Out Loud website to select a poem. Good luck to all who participate.
