Chosen Words
I read two verses the other day,
And enjoyed what they had to say.
“Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it,
It flies with the last breath of each soldier,
Who died protecting it.”
And
“Home of the free, because of the brave.”
This brought me back to my youth, when we were at war,
When our children came home battered and sore;
They served with honor, but never complained,
Many of them re-enlisted again.
Many soldiers never came home. Their families took such a loss;
But they fought to the end, and never gave up, to show the enemy who’s boss.
I wish youth of today would go back in time
To see how things used to be;
Instead they take guns, and shoot and kill, but they don’t kill the enemy!
They kill innocent people who do not deserve
To suffer in horror and pain;
They should never kill again;
They should be taught how our young men died,
So we could live in peace, and survive!
I pray for our youth, and hope that they learn
That life is too precious to lose;
I pray they think wisely and mend their ways,
So a better path they can choose.
Honor those who protect you, and lay down their lives,
So that you can continue to grow.
Pack away all your hatred, and show some love,
We are all God’s children, you know!
