St. Anne’s Parish in Bethlehem honored of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of the environment and animals, with its annual pet blessing Oct. 4. A large crowd of families, students and their pets gathered in the St. Anne’s School parking lot or a cool, sunny and breezy afternoon. In attendance were approximately 50 pets, including dogs, cats, a ferret, a turtle and some fish. St. Anne’s Pastor, Rev. Anthony P. Mongiello was on hand to personally bless each animal individually. Judging by all the smiles, the popular occasion was a big success.
