Elaine “Sherry” Shafer, 62, of Coplay and formerly of Catasauqua, died Oct. 14, 2019, after a two-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. She was the wife of Arlan R. Shafer for 38 years.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of James G. and the late Betty Jane (Howells) Eichelberger.

She was a 1974 graduate of Catasauqua High School.

She was a clerical worker for Phoenix Clothes for 13 years.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coplay.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by a daughter, Dana and her husband Brian Pammer of Coplay; two grandsons, Logan and one expected in November; three brothers, James J. and his wife Linda, Jeffrey and his wife Nancy and Timothy Eichelberger; nieces; nephews; and extended family.

She was predeceased by a brother, Eric Eichelberger; and her husband’s parents, William A. Jr. and Hilda J. (Reinhard) Shafer.
